Xat’s new WINTER power – some details

Woke up this morning to a few more WINTER details.
This is the WINTER back-end flix interface:

Resize your Xat chats – proportionally

More “useful utility” than anything else this new Xatworld feature allows you to resize any of your Xat chats. The catch, and what makes this different from Xat’s own resizer, is that with it you can “proportionally” resize any chat. No math required, no need to fiddle around with a calculator, and no need to just “eye it”. Simply decide what width or height you want, enter your chat name, use the slider to adjust to the desired dimension then click the link to get your embed code. Your chat and it’s background are guaranteed to stay true to form (see below).

Xat has new pawns!

This is mostly a recap of what went on earlier today.

Christmas pawns

Most already know that Xat has announced it’s next power, WINTER. What Xat didn’t announce was it’s flurry of new pawn releases. Side note: sorry for the barrage of Tweets but news of each new pawn literally came to us that quickly and that spread out (thank you again VIR3N).
So let’s see…since this first group of new pawns do seem to share a common theme “cough.. Christmas.. cough, cough”, let’s just call them “Christmas themed pawns”. We were able to spot the following:
Try (hat#hg) for the sack-like pawn. You’ll need CHRISTMAS and HAT:

Try (hat#hc) for the ice-cube (yeah, that’s what we’re calling them) candy pawn. You’ll need CHRISTMAS and HAT:

Xat’s new BARGE power

Xat has just announced testing of BARGE, it’s next power. With it chat owners and moderators will have instant access to a chats overflow “pools”.
Note: pools are created in an effort to minimize chat lag. When a chat box reaches it’s 61st user, that user thrown into a sort of sub chat called a “pool”. Every 60 users creates a new pool. This is commonly seen in heavily trafficked chats like Trade and Cambio.

One common problem is that once a pool has reached 60 users it’s considered full and there is no way to enter. You would typically be forced to wait until someone left the pool before being able to enter (problematic if you are moderating a chat and can’t get back into the main chat for example). Xat’s BARGE power allows owners and moderators to bypass this waiting period, giving them instant access to any pool they want.

Update2: @Spell pointed out that Gcontrol only allows you to set who can barge in. Barging in will still require the barge power regardless of the gcontrol setting.

Xat’s new UGLY power

While we wait to get more details on Xat’s soon to be released UGLY power, we do have a list of its associated smileys… they are:

How to use Xat HORROR power

Earlier today Mundoxat blogger, Defect, posted what appears to be a sneak peak at Xat’s HORROR power flix interface (see below).

The current interface allows for the selection of two effects, either “skeleton” or “eyes”; “Horror” themed effects that can be applied to the flix backgrounds that come with this new power (currently viewable on http://xat.com/xat_test).

Other options include the ability to change colors, horizontal & vertical offset, as well as some degree of scaling. One final option, called “background”, allows a user to choose between either “web” or “moon”.

Xat’s new ANGRY power

We woke up this morning to what presumably is Xat’s next power, ANGRY. After scouring Xat search for tidbits of information we’ve come up with very little. Apparently 42 entered Xat.com/help some two hours ago with the news of this new power and has distributed pre-release versions to some of their testers.

Xat Halloween backgrounds – Boo!

Another year, another Halloween… Time to break out your Halloween Xat hat and get to decorating your chat with a spooky or mildly scary xat background.
To get you in the spirit we’ve added a new section called Halloween Xat backgrounds that we intend to keep adding to (btw, a big thank you to the various designers that helped create the backgrounds). There you’ll find a few, brand new chat backgrounds to get you started. While you’re at it, why not decorate your Xat page with an orange, black or purple tiled background; perfect for Halloween!
Also, don’t forget about Xat’s Halloween power. Although it is a limited power there is always a chance that Xat may release a few for the holidays.

BAD – Xat’s censor power coming!

Xat is preparing to release BAD; it’s next unlimited group power. Similar in function to Xat’s “hide inappropriate words” feature, Bad allows a user to censor words of his choosing via a custom list. When typed into the chat, those words will simply be converted (we’re assuming here) to garbled text (example: ####).
Although unconfirmed by us, rumor has it that censored words will have to be 4 or more characters in length. Two interesting questions to ask here. Will censoring the word SEX censor the word SEXTUPLETS as in ####tuplets or would a user have to specifically add “sextuplets” to that list? Also… will Bad include a wildcard (*) feature that allows a user to censor SEX, SEXTUPLETS, SEXTANT by simply adding SEX* to their list (i.e. ###, #########, #######)?

4. Accounts

You are responsible for the security and proper use of all your accounts and passwords used in connection with the service and must take all necessary steps to ensure they are kept confidential, secure, used properly and not disclosed to unauthorised people.
You must use your xat accounts on a regular basis in order to keep your them active. xat.com may, without notification, cancel your accounts which have not been used for a period of ninety (90) days.
5. Groups
Individuals are responsible for the material they post to the chat box but group moderators should do what they can to ensure that your users abide by the terms and conditions.
Inactive or inappropriately run groups will be disabled or passed on to other moderators.
You are responsible for the security and proper use of all your groups and passwords used in connection with the service and must take all necessary steps to ensure they are kept confidential, secure, used properly and not disclosed to unauthorised people.

You must use your xat groups on a regular basis in order to keep your them active. xat.com may, without notification, cancel your groups which have not been used for a period of ninety (90) days.
6. xat.com Paid for Premium Services
xat.com offer certain premium services that are subject to charges
all premium services purchased from xat.com can only be used in the xat.com chat box and within the terms and conditions of xat.com
xat.com retains the right to withdraw premium services
when premium services are purchased from xat.com by the user, the amount of xats (credits) used for that purchase will be deducted from the users account immediately. The user will not have a right to cancel the order after the order has been placed
If a user is banned from the xat.com site for contraventions of xat.com terms and conditions they will lose the right to a refund of xats (credits). In some circumstances unused credits may be refunded to the user if more than 200 xats remain in a deactivated user account. The costs incurred by xat.com in providing this refund will be deducted from the outstanding user balance in question. If the costs exceed the balance no refund will be made.
The site includes fictional currencies (e.g. xats, days), which may be purchased with real world currency and can then be exchanged on this Site for limited license right(s) to use a feature of our product when, as, and if allowed by xat.com and subject to the terms of service. Regardless of terminology used, xat.com Credits are not redeemable for any sum of real world money or monetary value from xat.com at any time. You agree that xat.com has the absolute right to manage, regulate, control, modify and/or eliminate such Credits as it sees fit in its sole discretion, in any general or specific case, and that xat.com will have no liability to you based on its exercise of such rights. xat.com Credits cannot be used for any kind of wagering, betting or gambling either within or outside of our Site.
xat.com does not assume any responsibility associated with your transactions with such third parties. xat.com is the sole owner of Credits, and as such, retains all intellectual property rights affiliated with ownership. You acknowledge that at no time do you own, nor have any right to, the intellectual property affiliated with Credits. You are hereby prohibited from reselling or distributing Credits without the expressed written consent of xat.com.
There will be no refunds for any unused credits for any portion of the Service in the case of cancellation or account locking, suspension or termination by xat.
Under this Terms of Service agreement you must first contact xat.com to attempt to resolve any billing disputes before contacting your bank or credit card company to dispute the charges. You further agree that any billing disputes must be submitted in writing (by fax) to our billing department within one month of the invoice payment in question. By using our services You agree to the above policy and to contact xat.com before contacting your financial institution to seek a resolution. In the event you dispute charges contrary to this agreement, we reserve the right to add a $150 collection chargeback fee per transaction and to refer your account or sell your debt to a third party collection agency. We also reserve the right to take further legal action against you.

7. Tortuous Conduct
You are expected to request and respond to support and other issues in a courteous manner, when emailing, calling, submitting online tickets or using live chat with a representative of xat.com. Any cursing, yelling, or further intentional disruptive behavior aimed at xat.com or its employees shall be considered a violation of this Terms of Service agreement. Any threat; whether orally, verbally, in written, via E-mail, via live chat, delivered by second parties or delivered in any other way, and directed towards xat.com or any of xat.com's employees, partners, staff, contractors, sub-contractors, facilities, offices, etc. shall be construed as a violation of this Terms of Service agreement.

8. Disputes
xat.com does not resolve disputes between users and does not guarantee that users will comply with our terms and conditions or otherwise behave appropriately. If you are the victim of offensive or inappropriate behavior or receive any other unwanted communications, you should use the built-in facilities to block the messages as well as seeking appropriate external help, for example from law enforcement authorities. If you continue to suffer problems, or are not satisfied, then you must stop using the service. You may report people who you believe to be breaking the terms of service to xat.com/support but you should not expect their group or account to be deleted as a result of your report, xat may take action against them including suspending or locking accounts with no further communication with you.
It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you are not scammed or phished while using the service. xat.com is unable to resolve scamming or phishing disputes between users, this includes but it not limited to reversing trades, returning xats, days, powers after a bargain did not turn out as you expected. You may report scammers and phishing sites to xat.com/support, xat may take action against them including suspending or locking accounts with no further communication with you.

YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DISPUTES BETWEEN YOU AND OTHER XAT USERS INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, DISPUTES CONCERNING TRANSACTIONS WITH OTHER MEMBERS. XAT.COM RESERVES THE RIGHT, BUT HAS NO OBLIGATION TO MONITOR OR RESOLVE DISPUTES BETWEEN XAT USERS. YOU WILL NOT HOLD XAT.COM RESPONSIBLE FOR OTHER USERS' CONTENT, ACTIONS OR INACTIONS. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms shall be governed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and all disputes shall be decided in the courts of England and Wales.

If any provision of this Agreement shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this Agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions, we agree that the court should endeavor to give effect to the parties' intentions as reflected in the provision. If we fail to enforce any provision of these terms of service, that failure will not preclude us from enforcing either that provision (or any similar provision) on a later occasion. This Terms of Service is the complete and exclusive statement of the agreement between you and xat concerning the Service, and this Agreement supersedes any prior or contemporaneous agreement, either oral or written, and any other communications with regard thereto between you and xat. No agency, partnership, joint venture, employee-employer or franchiser-franchisee relationship is intended or created by this Agreement. Except for clauses excluding or restricting our liability a person who is not a party to this agreement shall have no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term of this agreement.
